The oldest golf course in the Southern Hemisphere and the fourth oldest golf course in the world!

Mauritius being a former British colony, the route of the Mauritius Gymkhana Golf Club is the oldest golf course in the Southern Hemisphere and the fourth oldest golf course in the world!
Created by the Royal Navy around 1844, Mauritius is thus the third country to have introduced golf, after the United Kingdom and India.

Initially a 9 hole course, this veteran of this island golf clubs - called by some the "ambassador" - was transformed in 1950 into an 18 holes par 68 of 5326 yards.
Unique club located in the center of the island , in Vacoas, it remains an unforgettable experience throughout its history. Proud to be an historic golf course, the Gymkhana awards to any golfer, a certificate that he played on a field where golf has been played since 1844.

A Mauritian golfer with a fabulous swing ... ! one of the best players on the island!

Long closed, restricted to members, the Mauritius Gymkhana Golf Club now opens its doors to outside players. Considered as the most accessible of the 18-hole, it offers a small green fee for non-members and offers a solution to a temporary member.
Welcoming all levels players, lessons can be taught on reservation.

In parallel with the international golf course, The Mauritius Gymkhana Club offers various types of activities and entertainment at the club bar, restaurant, library, swimming pool, tennis courts, squash courts, fitness center and conference room.
