The Mauritius Golf Masters

17 November 2010

Au bout du green, la plage...
Premier tournoi de golf professionnel sur l’ile Maurice!

At the end of the green, the beach ... First professional golf tournament in Mauritius!

From November 27th to December 6th 2010, the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita will host the Golf Masters, the professional golf tournament in Mauritius organized by Canal + Events and the Four Seasons Golf Club.

It brings together over three days of competition - from December 2nd to 5th,2010 - the 20 best golfers of the Allianz Golf Tour (French Professional Circuit) and 10 players invited to the European Tour (European Professional Circuit).

Scheduled at the end of the season, the competition appears to be a truce in the golfing calendar. It is both a reward for a whole year of competition but also a special moment for the future talents of the Allianz Golf Tour to meet experienced professionals from the European Tour and exchange ideas.

An attractive and original tournament

On the calendar of the French Golf Federation, the tournament rewards are 50 000 €. In addition, transportation and accommodation for the professional players are offered to them.

The formula is the strokeplay game (each stroke counts).

Upstream of this high level competition, the event offers to the non-professionals to play under the same conditions as the professionals.

  • On the first two days, an original alliance (one professional and one amateur) is established. Broadcasted on all channels of the MBC Group and Sport +, it allows non-professionals to really immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a professional tournament, with the pressure that media coverage can generate.
  • Moreover the competition is preceded by two PRO-AM, PRO-AM mixing professionals and amateurs in an opening round: The Pro-Am AfrAsia Bank on November 30th, and the Pro-Am Hublot on December 1st.

Players of the highest European level

Among them, Christian Cevaer from France (Winner of the 2004 Spanish Open and the European Open Europe on May 31th,2009), Martin Wiegele from Austria (winner of the Lexus Open 2007, Open Golf Kärnten and the Open de St Omer in 2010) and Nicolas Colsaerts from Belgium (Winner of the SK Golf Challenge and the Dutch Futures in 2009) will be present.
